What are the common types of cookies?

Author:

When we usually watch TV at home, we often keep some cookies on the table or inside cabinets—eating cookies while watching TV and chatting is something many people do regularly. With their deliciously fragrant and crunchy texture, cookies are loved by countless people. But what are the most common types of cookies out there?

What are the common types of cookies?

1. Soda crackers. These cookies contain relatively little sugar and oil, with just the right amount of yeast added, giving them that distinctive, aromatic scent characteristic of fermented products. During the baking process, baking soda is incorporated, which can affect the B vitamins naturally present in the flour. As a result, these crackers aren’t actually the most nutritious option—something many people mistakenly believe.

2. Cookies. This type of cookie is characterized by its relatively high sugar and fat content, while its protein level is comparatively low. Even a single small cookie can pack more calories than a whole glass of strawberry juice. Still, these cookies are delightfully crunchy and fragrant, offering an enjoyable texture that keeps them popular among many consumers in the market.
The ingredient you'll need is cake flour.

3. Wafer cookies. These cookies are relatively high in calories, but they have a low-density structure—meaning they’re light and airy. The main ingredients used to make them are glutinous rice flour and starch. They’ve also earned strong approval from many customers in the market.

4. As the name suggests, sandwich cookies have a filling nestled between two biscuits. Typically, the filling between the two cookies consists mainly of sugar, jam, or butter-based spreads. Eating too many can easily lead to "heatiness" (a traditional Chinese concept referring to internal discomfort), so it’s best to enjoy them in moderation—though let’s be honest, they certainly taste delicious!

5. Whole wheat cookies. These cookies also contain a relatively high amount of fat, while being packed with nutrients. However, compared to other types of cookies, they tend to have a slightly less appealing texture.

6. Preserved Mustard Greens Cookies
Recently, the trendy cookie—Meicai Biscuits—are gaining popularity for their savory, fragrant, and irresistibly crunchy texture, perfect for breakfast or afternoon tea. Available in three flavors: Original, Spicy, and Meicai Braised Pork. While the differences between the flavors aren’t huge, all three remain equally crispy. The Spicy version has just a hint of heat and a slightly saltier edge, while the Original flavor seems to stand out with an extra touch of mild sweetness, perhaps because it lacks any other added tastes.
